Hi I just got into sports betting. I have been interested for awhile but never opened an account or learned about it. I know practically nothing about sports betting except how to read a line. I want to know where people go to do research on NCAA football and NFL matchups. Also I would be interested in knowing what to look for when making a pick or how to decide what lines are good and which ones are money traps. I am the kind of person who doesn't like to get into something unless I know almost everything about it and this seems hella confusing to me. Thanks for all the information and tips.

Andrew

oh ya I do go to one site sportsdatabases.com to do reasearch now but their stats don't include the current season but I like that I can see how teams have done head to head in the past.

can't go wrong with pinnacle, greek, betjamaica... i am in the process of reading some books to learn more about sports betting since i'm pretty new to this myself and the best book i have read on the subject so far is education of a sports bettor, by Bob McCune. great read with profitable info, especially for the nba.. good luck to you

i just read that you were looking at sportsdatabase.com. while that could be useful, the most important information you need in order to make a line is available that you can acquire from places like statfox or usa today. how teams performed head to head five years ago has little to do with how the game in the future will be played. in some cases it may work, but more often than not i believe it is a kind of gambler's fallacy

Ya i kinda figured that so i basically only look like three years back at most because of the player rotation. I look to see how teams have played against common opponents I look at injuries but for me that means little because I don't know enough to know who is a key player and who is an injured benchwarmer. What else is important when deciding who to pick?

Andrew check out donbest.com because their I think is the most accurate lines when they open. Also you can check out sportsbook.com and wagerline should be able to tell you the % of what people are playing on. What I have learned is that is public is heavy on one side and the line comes down then that should tell you something. Remember to make sure you only bet 1-2.5% and no more than 12% max of your bankroll in a given day. Hope you do well.
